India is the fourth-largest oilseeds producer in the world, accounting for:

  • 20.8% of the total global cultivated area under oilseeds
  • 10% of global oilseed production
  • 13% of India’s Gross Cropped Area

The sector has been steadily expanding, achieving a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5% over the past decade. With production projected to increase further, its growth trajectory remains strong and promising.

Refined palmolein (RBD palmolein) has seen a substantial increase in consumption due to its cost-effectiveness and versatility. Widely used in hotels and restaurants and preparation of various packaged and processed foods

72% of oilseed farming is rainfed, primarily managed by smallholder farmers. Despite challenges, advanced crop production technologies and special programs have significantly improved productivity.
