Department of Consumer Affairs, Legal Metrology Department, has officially issued the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) dated 29.12.2023 for the Determination of the Net Quantity of Commodities, specifically focusing on Edible Oils and Fats contained in any package. This SOP is a significant development that brings clarity and standardization to the process of determining the net quantity of volumetric-packed commodities, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the industry. The SOP further specifies that the declaration of the Unit Sale Price (USP) must be in weight, with the option or voluntary choice to make the declaration in volume.
